There are dozens of Internet cafes in Puno, mostly around the centre, on Jr. Lima and Jr. Arequipa.

The post office is on Jr. Moquegua.

The Bolivian Consulate is at Jr. Arequipa 136, T351251.
Crime and safety
The central part of Puno is generally safe. However, be careful near the market and going to the port, and do not walk to the Manco Capac monument alone.
The tourist police station is located next to the Cathedral at Jr. Deustúa 538.
Health
The Clinica Americana, run by the Adventists, is at Av. El Sol 1761.
Local transport
There are taxis in the centre of Puno, which will take you to destinations in and near the city. There are also plenty of tricycles to take you round the centre. There are plenty of combis and buses running along the lakeshore, mostly leaving from Av. El Puerto, near the railway line.

Banks
Banco de Crédito (Visa cash machine) is at the corner of Jr. Lima and Jr. Grau.
Interbank (Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus cash machine) is at Jr. Lima 401.
Banco Continental (Visa cash machine) is on the fourth block of Jr. Lima.
Moneychangers
There are moneychangers on Jr. Lima.

Tourist information
The tourist information office is at Jr. Lima 549 and is open from 9am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. The staff is very helpful on the main attractions in the area.
Travel agencies
There are many travel agencies in Puno, mostly on Jr. Lima. These all tend to offer similar tours, mostly to the islands and Sillustani, although they may also organise trips to some of the towns near Puno. Prices with agencies are very reasonable, and it is usually as cheap to go with an agency as it is to organise everything independently.

There are not many private guides in Puno. It is usually possible to find guides at Sillustani, where they are most useful.
