The first stop south of Lima is Pachacámac, in the valley of Lurín. This was a vast pre-Hispanic adobe complex, dedicated to the god Pachacámac. Further south are a number of beach resorts popular with Limeños in the summer. Combis from Av. Grau marked Lurín, Pucusana follow the Circuito de Playas, where the beaches are generally sandy but the sea is quite rough. The first beaches are at El Silencio, where there are plenty of hostels and restaurants. Other beaches that follow are at Punta Hermosa, Punta Negra, Punta Rocas and San Bartolo. Further to the south is Santa María. In the summer the area is quite lively, although the beaches in themselves are not really worth visiting.
