Travel services
Tourist information
The Mitinci office is very useful for tourist information, and has good information on all the sites in the area, including many which are rarely visited.
Travel agencies
There are a few travel agencies in Chachapoyas, generally offering tours to Kuélap, although they will also arrange tours to other places. These will generally be on private tours and thus quite expensive. Most of the tours consist largely of transport only, although a guide can be included if you request one. Agencies include the Hotel Revash and Amazon Tours, on the Plaza de Armas. Tours to Kuélap or Karajía cost $8 per person (transport only) or $14 (including guide and small lunch). Vilaya Tours at the Gran Hotel Vilaya, run by Rob Dover, arranges guided tours to more remote attractions.
Private guides
There are few guides in the Chachapoyas area, although there are usually guides available at Kuélap. For other sites, if you require a guide you will have to organise this in Chachapoyas. One of the agencies may be able to fix you up with a guide. It is also possible that one of the workers in the Mitinci office will be able to guide for you, although these are not official guides.
