Travel services
Tourist offices
The tourist information office is inside the Complejo Belén and has plenty of information on Cajamarca. The staff is very helpful. Tourist information can also be obtained from the archaeological museum on Del Batán.
Travel agencies
There are plenty of travel agencies in the centre of Cajamarca offering tours to all the main attractions in the area. They all tend to offer similar prices, which are quite reasonable, although it is worth having a look around as some occasionally have special offers. Inca Bath Tours, on the Plaza de Armas, is possibly a bit cheaper than the other agencies, especially outside of Peak Season and for the less common tours. The most common tours, to Cumbemayo ($6 per person), Ventanillas de Otuzco ($4 per person), Porcón ($4 per person) and Hacienda La Collpa and Llacanora ($4) are quite popular and there will normally be enough people for a tour. For other attractions, such as the Ventanillas de Combayo, there are fewer people interested and so tours tend to be private and thus more expensive. Tours always include a guide, most of whom are quite knowledgeable, although levels of English can be poor.
Private guides
There are plenty of private guides in Cajamarca who will be able to guide you to the main attractions in the city as well as those a bit further. Some have private transport, which is very useful. Guides can be contacted at the Complejo Belén and the Cuarto del Rescate.
