Peru Guide : Máncora > Attractions

The long, sandy beach in front of the town of Máncora is pleasant, although there is little shade. The sea is quite rough and is good for surfing, although swimming is also possible. It is possible to learn to surf in Máncora. Ask in the hotels for someone to teach you.

The beach of Las Pocitas, a few kilometres south of the town, is more attractive, with palm trees fringing the sand and the sea is much calmer and better for swimming. Most people using this beach stay in one of the relatively luxurious hotels on the beach at Las Pocitas, although it is easy to take a mototaxi from Máncora and arrange for the driver to collect you later.

The waters in Máncora are quite warm and unpolluted.

In addition to the beaches, there are mud baths close to Máncora. A mototaxi can take you to these. There is also a good day trip to some pretty lagoons with waterfalls in the area. These are a one-hour drive from the town, followed by a walk of two hours. A guide is necessary for this. Kimba, at Kimba?s Casa, can help with this.
