There are fewer Internet cafes than in most Peruvian cities of a similar size. There are one or two places on Grau and on Arequipa.

The post office is on the Plaza de Armas.
Crime and safety
The tourist police can be contacted at the main police station on Sánchez Cerro opposite the Mercado Modelo (T 345202).

The Hospital Cayetano Hereria is in Urb. Castilla. The Clínica San Miguel is in Urb. Los Cocos.
Local transport
Buses and combis
There are good combi connections to most of the towns and villages near Piura.
Combis for Catacaos go down all of Sánchez Cerro and charge $0.20. Colectivos, which are faster, leave from Ovalo Bolognesi and charge $0.30.
Empresa Shaday (Sánchez Cerro block 12) has combis that leave for Sechura when full. The journey takes 1 hour and costs $0.50.
Taxis
Taxis within the city charge about $0.50 per trip. Mototaxis charge about half this.

Banco Continental (Visa cash machine) on Plaza de Armas.
Banco de Crédito (Visa cash machine) on Av. Tacna on the corner of the Plaza.
Banco Latino (MasterCard cash machine) on Av. Tacna on the corner of the Plaza.
Moneychangers
There are plenty of places to change dollars near the Banco de Crédito on Av. Tacna.

Tourist information
The tourist information office is in the Municipal building on the Plaza de Armas. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm. The staff is friendly and helpful about the region. There is good information on the area at www.piuranet.com
