Health
Hospital EsSalud is on the Plaza de Seguridad Social at the corner of Grau and Mariscal Nieto.
The Clínica Chiclayo is at Av. La Florida 225 in Urb. Santa Victoria, next to the Paseo Las Musas.
Immigration office
The migraciones office in Chiclayo is at La Plata 30 in Urb. San Eduardo (T 206838). It may be possible to extend visas here.
Local transport
Combis and buses
There are very good connections between Chiclayo and all the surrounding towns and villages, meaning that visiting the main attractions surrounding Chiclayo is very simple by public transport. Be careful at the bus stops, as drivers can be very keen on getting your business, hassling, and even accosting, you.
Combis to Lambayeque leave every few minutes from V. de la Vega 156, cost $0.20 and take about 10 minutes.
Combis to Pimentel leave from V. de la Vega 198, cost $0.30 and take about 20 minutes.
Combis for Sipán leave from a terminal 10 minutes in taxi from the centre. They leave every 30 minutes or so, cost $0.50 and take about 30 minutes to get there. If there are no combis to Sipán, ask the driver of a combi to Satur if he will go to Sipán.
Combis to Túcume leave from the terminal on Av. Angamos, taking 30 minutes, for $0.40.
Taxis
Taxis charge about $0.50 for a journey in the centre, mototaxis half that. It is possible to hire a taxi to visit the different sites near Chiclayo. A full day, visiting Sipán, Lambayeque and Túcume, will cost about $40. To Sipán only will cost about $15 return. A taxi to Lambayeque costs about $2 one-way.

There are plenty of places to change dollars on the corner of Balta near the Plaza de Armas.
Sport and activities
Football
Chiclayo has a reasonable football team, Juan Aurich, in the Peruvian first division. Matches can be seen at the stadium on Av. Salaverry.
Travel services
Tourist offices
There are a number of tourist information booths throughout the centre. The best is on Av. Balta one block from the Plaza. This is open Mon-Sat 9am-1pm and from 3pm-7pm. The booth on the Plaza de Armas is open from 9am-12pm on Sundays.
Travel agencies
There are a number of travel agencies offering tourist services in Chiclayo. Tours are generally quite expensive, and it is cheaper to hire a taxi and a guide separately. Sipán Tours, at 7 de Enero 772, is one of the best. A day tour to Sipán, Museo Brüning and Túcume costs about $30 per person.
Private guides
Guides can be found at the main tourist sites around Chiclayo. It is possible to hire one to show you round the site, or to take you round several sites.
