Peru Guide : Trujillo > Shopping

Things to take home

Trujillo does not have a strong craft base like many cities in the highlands. However, there are some good replicas of Chimú and Moche ceramics for sale in the Museo de Arqueología and the Museo Cassinelli, and there is a crafts market on the 18th block of Av. España. Models of the caballitos de totora can be bought in Huanchaco.

Supermarkets

There are a few small supermarkets in the centre of Trujillo. Merpisa is on the corner of Junín and Pizarro. Super Rey is on the 7th block of Gamarra.

Markets

The Mercado Central on Gamarra has a good selection of fruit and other food. The market is relatively safe.

Clothes stores

There are no large shops in Trujillo, although there are plenty of stores selling cheap, reasonable clothing. The main shopping street is Gamarra.

Photography

There are plenty of shops selling and developing films. Kodak print and slide film is widely available, although Fuji film is quite difficult to find, and Fuji slide film is unavailable.
