The main attraction on the lake is to sit by its shores and relax or take a boat out. However, there are a couple of areas that can be visited. The Jardín Botánico (*) contains several varieties of trees and plants, and includes a display of medicinal plants from the jungle. There is a $0.50 entrance fee. The gardens are 45 minutes from Puerto Callao in peque-peque, and then a 15-minute walk. There are regular boat services from the port charging $0.50 per person.
The lake is very busy at weekends with locals who come to bathe. There are several beaches around the lake, with La Playa and la Isla del Amor being the most popular. La Playa can be reached by road and there is a pleasant restaurant there. A mototaxi from Puerto Callao charges $0.70. La Isla del Amor can only be reached by boat, but is probably the better of the two bathing spots. Regular boat services to the spot charge $0.70 per person.
