Lima
The journey to Lima takes 6 hours on a good, paved road. All buses making the journey are basic. The best companies are Transportes Merced (Jr. Callao 960), which has buses at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 11pm for $4, and Transportes Chanchamayo (Jr. Callao 1002), which has buses at 9am, 2pm and 11pm for $4. Transportes Canario (Amazonas 694) has buses at 10am and 9.30pm for $3. Transportes Junín (Amazonas 669) has buses at 10.45am, 11.45am and 11.30pm for $3. There are occasional colectivos from the terminal near the Hotel Los Portales, taking 3½ hours and charging $6. However, it is generally quicker to take a colectivo to La Oroya, and catch another colectivo to Lima from there.
Huancayo
Transportes Canario (Amazonas 694) has buses to Huancayo every hour. The journey takes three hours and costs $2.
Chanchamayo
Colectivos and combis leave for San Ramón and La Merced from the stadium on Av. Odría. Combis leave every hour, take 1½ hours and charge $1.50. Colectivos leave when full, take 1 hour and charge $3.
Oxapampa
It is possible to catch the buses that pass through Tarma to Oxapampa from Lima. The journey takes 6 hours. Transportes Merced (Jr. Callao 960) has a bus that passes through at 12pm for $4.
La Oroya, Junín, Cerro de Pasco
Transportes Junín (Amazonas 669) has buses to Junín (2 hours, $1.50) and Cerro de Pasco (3 hours, $2) at 5.30am and 1pm. Much faster is by colectivo, which leave from the terminal near the roundabout close to the Hotel Los Portales. Colectivos to La Oroya take 1 hour and charge $2. Colectivos to Junín take 1 hour and charge $2. Colectivos to Cerro de Pasco take 2 hours and charge $4.
San Pedro de Cajas
Colectivos leave hourly for San Pedro de Cajas from the corner of Paolo de Otero and Moquegua. The journey takes 1½ hours and costs $1.50.
Gruta de Huagapo
Colectivos leave when full from the Grifo Pecsa on Paolo de Otero. The journey takes one hour and costs $1.
Acobamba/Señor de Muruhuay
Colectivos to Acobamba and the Señor de Muruhuay sanctuary go down Jr. Huánuco, passing every couple of minutes. The journey takes 15 minutes and costs $0.30.
