There are many hotels in Ayacucho, although most are rather basic. However, these tend to be quite good value. There are lots of minibuses in the centre of Ayacucho, so rooms facing the street are often very noisy.
Hotels fill up incredibly quickly around Semana Santa and a reservation several weeks in advance is essential. Many hotels raise their prices substantially in this period, and there have been reports of some hotels even quadrupling their normal rates.
